Dr. James Hamilton
Wisconsin Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemistry
and Engineering Physics, UW-Platteville; Founder/Director
and Chief Scientific Officer of Xolve, Inc.
Dr. Hamilton is currently Professor in Chemistry and Engineering Physics at UW-Platteville. He is also Director of the new UW-System Nanotechnology Center for Collaborative Research and Development. He is a co-inventor and patent holder for Xolve’s core technology. He also founded Photonic Cleaning Technologies, another nanomaterials company.
Mr. Streich was a co-inventor and patent holder of the Company’s base patent. At age 16, Philip won the Intel Foundation Young Scientist award. In 2009, he placed third in what is known as “The Baby Nobel.” He was a Davidson Fellow Laureate and Presidential Scholar. Mr. Streich participated on Xolve’s Advisory Board and was studying at Harvard University until his untimely death in 2012.
President and CEO
Prior to joining Xolve, Joe Beatty held a variety of executive management, sales, and product development positions in the specialty chemical industry. Most recently, Mr. Beatty was ColorMatrix Corporation’s Managing Director of North America from 2008 through 2012. Prior to joining ColorMatrix, Mr. Beatty was Vice President of North America for MetoKote Corporation and has held senior management positions with Hexion Specialty Chemicals and its predecessor companies (McWhorter Technologies, Eastman Chemical and Resolution Specialty Materials) including Vice President Coating Resins – Americas; Global Business Director – Coatings; and Business Director Specialty Resins and Monomers. He began his career in the Industrial Water Treatment industry with WR Grace – Dearborn Division, ultimately being named Vice President of Sales and Marketing. After the formation of Betz Dearborn he was Vice President Sales for the Industrial Division. Mr. Beatty has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Allen Clauss
Vice President, R&D
Dr. Clauss holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana; he is a very experienced industrial chemist and development manager. He previously served as a senior R&D manager for the Procter and Gamble Company where, in addition to other achievements, he established two of their R&D Centers in China. His work at P&G gave him a wide range of experience in interface chemistry. Prior to joining Xolve, he taught at the University of Wisconsin. He has numerous publications to his credit and holds eight patents.
Vice President, Business Development
As a JD/MBA who holds an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering, Mr. Mireles adds an exceptionally strong and complimentary skill set to Xolve. Mr. Mireles has a wide range of legal experience in intellectual property management. Additionally, he has experience in valuation and mergers and acquisitions; specifically, within the chemicals and materials industries. Currently, he is applying these skills to improve the valuation of Xolve through partnerships and joint development. He holds law and MBA degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University.
Mr. Apfelbach is a serial entrepreneur who has been involved in the start-up phase of four high tech businesses in the last nine years. He has raised over $170 million in combined funds for these companies including venture capital, alliance, debt and government programs. He is currently CEO of ZBB, Inc., a publicly traded company.
